Basic Pattern for Skirt

Maybe you’ve read about my workshops of the basic pattern for the skirt, and maybe you’ve been thinking “hmm, wonder what I just to be with one?”

Maybe you even thought that it was crazy to spend time and money on, because you can just take the bottom of the dress because the pattern, and use it for skirts.

BUT

It can, therefore, not.

At least not if you want a good fit in its skirts.

The prerequisite for a good fit of the basic pattern for the skirt

It is as such that the vehicle fit greatly determined by how it sits around what I call the vehicle’s Foundation.

In dresses and tops are the Foundation the shoulders and the neck. It is here, the fabric rests, and from here it drops down over the body. If the Foundation is not adapted to the individual, so there may be all sorts of problems with vehicle down over the body, both in terms of too much and too little substance. It can for example. be it tightens over the bust, there is too much fabric in the Middle order who sit and waves and fills that there is extra fabric at the armhole, which looks like it will need to be removed in an extra incision.

Very often, many of the problems can be alleviated by getting foundations corrected, so that the vehicle is sitting as it should around the shoulders and neck.

On the other hand, sits at the waist, skirts or slightly lower. And has nothing to do with the shoulders and neck. So if you take the bottom of a dress pattern, and uses as a starting point for your basic pattern for the skirt, then you get a piece of clothing, which is balanced a completely different place than where it sits.

The waist is the Foundation of your basic pattern for skirt

In the skirt, you have an entirely different Foundation than in dresses. The best fit comes when the pattern is constructed from this Foundation, as is the waist. The substance shall fall from here, and so do not hang together with the challenges that had to be over taljelinjen.

Another really important detail is that the dresses and blouses rarely is quite tight at the waist. There is something extra movable range, in order to move in the vehicle, and in general keep going to have it on. And even though the dress because the shape is close, so it is not so tight at the waist like a skirt should be.

If you just copy taljevidden from the dress over to the skirt, so it will become too great. The skirt will not sit where you are going, but fall a little farther down. Maybe it’s ok to have a lowered waistline, but if the lowered waist not is made out from the right pattern, but has arisen by the skirt falls down, so it is not only the waist, there will be lowered, but also the hip line and indsnittene. And depending on your character, it can have a major impact on the fit and the completed expression.

See what it can have repercussions not to follow its basic shape to skirt in thedressexplorer:

(And yes, I’m a little thicker than normal … but that is a baby that is growing inside the abdomen, well!)

How it works the incision of the basic pattern for the skirt

Incision must end there, where the body is greatest. Their function is to shape the tool around the body’s curves, and the tip of an incision pointing always toward the top of a path. Imagine fx. at breast the incision pointing toward the top of the chest.

The same applies for incision in skirts. On the back panel is pointing you towards the point on the downside, there seems to be the furthest out in the world, and in front of the v points to the hip bone. There is no distinctive hip bone (often because the stomach fills a little more), it is not safe, we need incision in the front of her skirts. I have, for example, not even.

It takes no account of this in its basic pattern for the skirt, so indsnittene will not fit with the body’s Forms. They will start and finish too low, and it will give different versions of folds and “close substitutes” in substance. The top skirt will be too tight, because there are removed too much substance, compared to what the body requires at that point (because the waist is the narrowest point). At the bottom there will be too much substance, and it will appear as if the incision should be sewn longer.

Here, you can’t sew the small crevices away because they come from that whole Foundation is wrong. The only thing you can do to get rid of those little annoying imperfections, is to change the whole design of the skirt so that it fits to the body.

When you have made its basic pattern for skirt, what can be so with it?

In fact, everything from a basic pattern for. skirt you can make your own model developments. You can add width and do everything from an A-shaped skirt with a big bell shape or balloon skirts. You can make pencil skirts that fit perfectly, and add crossings, Wrinkly, pleats and details as you think. The waist you can lower or even increase. And all without loosing the fit or even be near to risk something like that.
