When Rest is Indicated in Pregnancy

The nine-month period of pregnancy should be lived with every care so that nothing bad happens to either the baby or his mother. In some cases, rest is needed during pregnancy.

When Rest is Indicated in Pregnancy

To have a healthy gestation, the woman must follow all the directions of her doctor, especially when he says that it is necessary to rest.

When the doctor tells the pregnant woman that she should rest, it is normal to be worried because it is a sign that something in pregnancy is not going very well.

In fact, many women need to rest during pregnancy to avoid risk.

When rest is indicated for pregnant women

There are several reasons for the doctor to advise the rests in pregnancy.

The prenatal tests will tell if the pregnant woman needs rest or not during this period.

Proper medical follow-up can uncover wrong things with the mother and the fetus.

There are many problems that can make pregnant women rest during pregnancy.

The pre-eclampsia, which is a very serious increase in blood pressure of the pregnant woman requires care. According to professionals when the pregnant woman has pre-eclampsia she needs to rest. The pregnant woman should lie on her side, leaning on the left side of her body. This improves the blood flow to the baby, which is compromised because of this problem. The rest prevents the problem from getting even worse because of the daily agitation.

The detachment of the placenta is another problem that requires pregnant women stay at home. The detachment occurs when the placenta detaches from the uterus. When that happens the placenta gets positioned in the wrong place. Instead of being in the center or deep in the womb, as is normal, it develops below it. This can cause bleeding, malnutrition of the fetus and lack of oxygenation for the baby. This condition requires the pregnant woman to rest so that there are no more serious problems.

The early rupture of the pouch is another problem that requires the pregnant woman to rest. This rupture causes the woman to lose amniotic fluid, which leaves the baby subject to infections. During this situation rest is critical to avoiding major complications such as disrupting blood flow to the baby.

At the end of pregnancy, early dilation of the cervix may occur, which may lead to childbirth, so it is important to rest in the last days of gestation.

The rest of the pregnant woman may be relative or total, everything will depend on the pregnancy situation. In relative rest, the doctor advises that the woman does not go to work and avoid making intense physical exertions. The absolute rest requires that the woman be admitted to a hospital.
