What is Lunch?

Before proceeding to know the meaning of the term lunch, what we are going to do is discover what its etymological origin is. In this case, it must be said that it is a word derived from Arabic, specifically from “al-morsus” that can be translated as “the bite”.

It’s called lunch to the food that is ingested in the middle of the day. This action is known as having lunch. For example: “It’s still missing for lunch but I’m already hungry”, “At lunch I had a delicious pizza”, “Don’t forget to take your food for lunch”.

A few hours after breakfast, which is the first meal of the day, it is time for lunch. Typically, it is taken at noon or in the early afternoon. That is why it is frequent that lunch is made in the work environment or at school, since it means a break in the middle of daily obligations.

It must be stated that depending on the countries, lunch is held at one time or another. Thus, while in Central European nations it is very often carried out at around 12:30 or 1:00 p.m., in Spain it is carried out, as a general rule, from 2:00 p.m. or even later.

Lunch characteristics often depend on cultural and social factors. A retiree may take lunch at home, spending time preparing the dishes and eating himself. Lunch, in this case, can even consist of a starter, a main course and a dessert.

An office worker, on the other hand, is likely to make a quick lunch, consisting of a single plate. There are workers who take the food in a lunch box or lunch box from the house and consume it in the office. There are also those who choose to eat lunch in fast food establishments. It is common for companies to grant a fixed time for lunch in the middle of the working day.

In certain cases, lunch can be a major event. Entrepreneurs and executives often hold business lunches, where they discuss business matters while eating.

The keys to being able to carry out a healthy lunch are the following:
-You must always bet on fresh products instead of frozen or prepared ones.
-In the same way, it is essential that the products taken are seasonal.
-It is advisable to plan lunch weekly so that there are not only healthy but also varied foods. In other words, vegetables, meat, or fish take center stage.
-You must be aware that you must reject or minimize the intake of products with a lot of fat and sugars.
-When preparing the different recipes, it is advisable to always opt for healthier cooking methods. Thus, instead of frying food, you should opt to prepare it by steaming, grilling and even baking.
